Sarah Hanuka

Born and raised in Israel, Sarah Hanuka moved to the U.S. after serving in the Israeli Armed Forces (during which time she received a Best Female Soldier Award). Sarah is a renowned educator and published author (her “What Makes a Leader?” article appeared in the 2005 book Living Torah: Selections from Seven Years of Torat Chayim). She has taught Hebrew, Judaica, and Sunday school in numerous settings, including synagogues and day schools in Chicago, L.A., and New Jersey. While new to the Lawrence Family JCC, Sarah brings 35+ years’ experience in Jewish education to San Diego and is looking forward to deepening patrons’ connections to and understanding of Israel’s food, culture, language, traditions, and stories.
