Richard Barton

Rick Barton has served in local and national leadership roles in the AntiDefamation League for over 25 years. Among his many positions with the ADL, Rick has served as Chair of the San Diego Regional Board, National Vice-Chair of International Affairs, Chair of National Leadership, Chair of the National Education Committee, and Chair of the National Task Force on Education Equity. He currently serves as a member of ADL’s Global Advisory Council at the request of ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt. Rick has traveled internationally with ADL and its leadership to address issues of Antisemitism, Israel and the global Jewish Community.
In 2010, Rick was appointed by University of California President Mark Yudof to serve on the UC Council on Campus Climate, Culture and Inclusion. President Yudof specifically tasked Rick with helping identify and make recommendations regarding the climate for Jewish students on UC campuses. Rick currently is a member of the Academic Engagement Network which consists of faculty seeking to address the negative environment on campuses regarding Israel and Jewish students.
In his professional life, Rick is a partner at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves, & Savitch, LLP, and the Chair of the Health Care Practice Group. He has represented healthcare providers and health systems for more than 38 years, and is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law.
