Get ready to exercise your funny bone with this innovative class led by New York actress and JCompany Alumni Lindsey Grant! Learn classic improv warm ups and the history of why improv is so important today. Practice and create scenes as an improv troupe and learn the structure of joke-telling.

Tuesdays and Thursdays October 13, 15, 20 & 22, 2020 | 4:00 - 5:15 pm

Join us for an exploration into the world of Shadow Puppetry! Dating back all the way to ancient Asia, shadows have been used to tell tales in artistic ways. You will get to explore characters and voice work and all you need is paper and a flashlight. Get your crafting skills on as well as your acting skills.

JCompany JUNIOR allows our youngest artists, 4-7 years old, to learn the basics of theatre while creating fun, lively characters from some of the best children’s stories and shows (Winnie the Pooh, The Wizard of Oz, Finding Nemo and more). Throughout this 8-week experience, students will tap into their imagination and learn acting techniques to help them build confidence on stage. The last day of class, there will be an exciting showcase for friends and family - bring your cameras! Join JCC Nierman Preschool Teacher Kristin Lejarde with this perfect opportunity for our youngest artists to grow before joining JCompany mainstage shows! No audition necessary.

Students will be assigned a classic Musical (Showboat, South Pacific, Hello Dolly, etc.) and will create a design board including their vision of what the show would look like today! Be on the forefront of revived and reimagined Broadway musicals like Oaklahoma!, Carosel, and Once On This Island that are redefining the “classic” musical. Take what was “old” and make it new again!

Magic in the Attic Fee

Directed by Joey Landwehr

Synopsis: (A Play By Bess Welden) Elinor and Leo, a modern American sister and brother, are exiled to clean out their grandmother’s slightly spooky attic and are none too happy about the task. But when Elinor discovers an old notebook written in a foreign language, the kids find themselves plunged into a supernatural world in which their long dead great-great grandmother and a group of elves bring Yiddish language and folktales to life. Full of humor and heart, Magic in the Attic is a celebration of the universality of story and the power of connecting with cultural heritage.

Self-taped auditions are becoming more and more popular for both theatre and film, but filming an audition is VERY different than doing one in person.
