1, 2, & 3-WEEKS OUT Audition workshop for Professional Summer-Stock Productions

This workshop is designed to assist the singer with song choice and preparation for upcoming auditions.  If you are new to J*Company or auditions in general or are having a challenging time finding a song or simply don’t know where to look, this is the workshop for you.  If you aren’t sure your song choice is appropriate for the show you’re auditioning for or for your voice in general, this is the workshop for you. If you are looking for some constructive criticism on your audition and how to make it better from professional working artists with a chance to pre-audition before you go in for “the big day”, this is the workshop for you. 

NOTE: This workshop is by no means meant to take place of private voice lessons, but to prepare you for auditions. EVERY performer should have private voice lessons on a continuous basis!

At 3-Weeks out, professionals Jason Chase (National Tours: The King And I, starring Stephanie Powers, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, starring Patrick Cassidy, Ragtime, Grease & Camp Broadway) & Joey Landwehr (Broadway: The Secret Garden, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Carnegie Hall & J*Company Artistic Director) will work with you in this nurturing classroom setting to find an appropriate song, learn the melody and leave with a recording for you to use to practice with at home.  You will also receive a Song & Character Worksheet and an audition packet on what to prepare for “the big day.”  NOTE: You MUST bring you own recording device in order to receive the recording of your song!!!

At 2-Weeks out, this workshop will concentrate on song presentation, audition technique, a more in-depth character develo p.m.ent as well as fine-tuning the memorization. You will be expected to be prepared with all the materials outlined in the last workshop as if it were the real audition so further constructive criticism can help you be fully prepared for “the big day.”

At 1-Week out, we make minor changes if need be to vocal style and character work as well as walking-through a mock audition to make yourself completely acquainted with the process and what is expected on “the big day.”

Actor’s Boot Camp
Ages 12 - 18

Actor’s Boot Camp is a class designed for students that wish to pursue a professional career in theatre. In this intensive students will learn Text Analysis, Relaxation Exercises, Monologue Preparation, Character Development, Create Environment, Cold Read, Speech/Dialects as well as Imagination Exercises, so that the actor is flexible in any character setting. This is a great class for those who are preparing for college auditions or even upcoming TV, Film or Stage productions.

Advanced Dance Class
Ages 13 - 18

Advance Dance is for those serious young artists, with previous dance training, who want to learn what it takes to be a professional dancer. Deven P. Brawley will teach you advance steps and bring you to one of his individual dance recitals to perform and see what goes into putting on a full scale dance showcase.

Stage Combat - Hit Me With Your Best Shot - NEW!
Ages 9 - 13

A stage combat class for those kids who like to live on the edge! Stage combat is a great tool to learn, but it must be taught safely. Students will learn fight choreography, acting scenes, and how to use their body as an instrument.

Musical Theatre Dance – Children of Eden

This class will teach steps and styles used in musical theatre from the past to present. Focusing on J*Company’s upcoming production of Children of Eden; if you want to get “a leg up” on auditions for this exciting show this class is a must!

Musical Adventures

Musical Adventures is set in a fun and safe environment that will nurture kids to explore the tones in their voice. They will learn about rhythm, vocalization, projection, and be introduced to a variety of musical instruments.

As a J*Company jr. student you will go on an action packed adventure every class. Students will explore the wonderful world of theatre as they act out fun stories and play games that will help them tap into their imagination and theatrical beings. Glee Mania

J*Company Player students will act out stories through mime, dance and dramatic dialogue. This class will prepare them for when they audition for J*Company productions. This class will culminate into an original play performance for family and friends. Class fee covers additional materials, includes props and costuming, and production costs for performance.

Musical Theatre: A Salute to Broadway!
Ages 7 - 10

Come sing, dance and act out some of the most famous songs from Broadway musicals. Young artists will be taught music from their favorite Broadway shows and work together to choreograph and stage numbers. This is an opportunity for your budding young star to sing solos, as well as work together as an ensemble and perform in front of an audience in a very friendly environment. Students will learn projection, stage presence and gain confidence for future auditions.
