Vocal Techniques For Theatre

This class teaches young artists performance-level vocals and techniques in a fun and safe environment. Students will sing through many songs and shows of various musicals of all types, focusing on the different styles and techniques of musical theatre, and the basics of reading and understanding music.

The Ensemblist Boot Camp

Are you ready the best ensemble member ever? Learn to perfect harmony singing, build your technique, and expand your vocal repertoire. In each of our Singing Intensives, we will work on material to make you a better performer and get you ready for your big break! This class is perfect for young artists who are looking to be the true "VIPs" of Broadway....the ENSEMBLE!

A Taste of Shakespeare

This is an ideal class for beginning theatre students! Students will learn Shakespeare scenes (for beginners!) and learn how to portray the dramatic - and sometimes over the top - characters of Shakespearean theatre. Our resident acting coach will instruct students on fun techniques that will further their growth as performers and strengthen their confidence in any situation.

A Bit of the Bard

Students will spend 3 weeks training with a JCompany resident acting coach as you learn classic warm-ups, practice scenes with your fellow actors, and work on creating characters from Shakespearean theatre. JCompany will be offering 4 of these special acting intensives throughout the year – join us for each one!

Phantom of the Opera Master Class

JCompany is proud to partner with Broadway San Diego for this special class! This master class will be led by a member of the cast or crew of The Phantom of the Opera, who will demonstrate techniques of their craft, answer questions, offer insight, and share their experiences performing in a major theatrical production. This class is for anyone and everyone who has love of theatre!

Upon signing up for this master class, you will receive ONE ticket to the performance of The Phantom of the Opera, on the evening following the class. Parents are responsible for arranging student transportation to and from the performance.

Laughing With The Bard

This class will cover all things Shakespearean COMEDY! Learn classic warm-ups, practice scenes with your fellow actors, and work on creating some of the most hilarious characters from Shakespearean theatre. Students will leave having studied uproarious Shakespeare scenes, comprehending their jokes, and with the confidence needed to make each other laugh!

Acing The Vocal Callback

This class will focus on teaching students how to stand out in any callback situation! They can be nerve wracking, stressful, and competitive... but it can be a positive experience if you stop focusing on comparing yourself to others and work your own vocal improvement and character choices! Students will be given a song based on their vocal range and will learn how to personalize the story and leave a lasting impression in the call back room.

Storytelling Through Song

How is musical theatre different than just listening to music? The storytelling! This class teaches young artists performance-level vocals as well as the skills to act and making the audience BELIEVE. Students will sing a variety of ensemble numbers as well as learning the skills needed to be a soloist. They will also leave with an understanding of music theory for musical theatre.

Much Ado About Tragedy

This class will cover all things Shakespearean TRAGEDY! Learn classic warm-ups, practice scenes with your fellow actors, and work on creating some of the biggest tragic heros from Shakespearean theatre. Students will leave having studied drama-filled Shakespeare scenes and with the confidence needed to hold the audience in the palm of your hand!

Ballet for Musical Theatre

Ages 7-11
This class will allow students the opportunity to explore the world of ballet and the many Broadway shows that use ballet technique - CATS, WEST SIDE STORY, and OKLAHOMA - just to name a few! While learning basic ballet technique for the stage, students will learn fun and exciting combinations inspired by musical theatre's best.

As One Enrollment Fee 18-19

Register for the 2018-2019 season of As One Vocal Ensemble and learn the art of choral singing, make new JCompany friends, and become a better performer!

Performances & Recitals: To be announced and ongoing throughout the 25th season (August 2018–July 2019).

Rehearsals: Are held once weekly on Sundays from 5:00–6:00 PM. Some other rehearsals may be scheduled as needed.
