L’Dor V’Dor: From Generation to Generation
September 14, 2011 – November 16, 2011
Opening Night, L'Dor V'Dor
The Jewish people are intimately connected with the generations past and those yet to come. There are countless examples of Judaism being passed down from generation to generation, as well as the importance of intergenerational relationships: the Torah, the study of the Hebrew language, the concepts of Tikun Olam and Tzedakah to name but a few. This exhibit demonstrates that L’Dor V’dor can be extended beyond some of the conventional Jewish concepts to which we are accustomed to the idea that the passing on of creative and artistic abilities can also be part of our rich tradition. Whether artistic ability is credited to nature, nurture or both, we are most fortunate to have four artists and family members represented in our show: Lizet Benrey, Ken Goldman, Becky Guttin and Vivien Ressler are able to share their family history with us through their art. Sand 'n Fire: The Wonder of Glass
December 7, 2011 – March 4, 2012
Glass is a medium that is inextricably linked to the technical skills that
its maker possesses. The mastery of the process enables glass artists and
artisans to make pieces that are truly extraordinary, whether they be blown,
etched, or fused. These techniques will be on display at “Sand 'n Fire: The
Wonder of Glass” as we showcase local Jewish artists who express their
creativity through this malleable material. Featuring artists Garry Cohen,
Leslie Perlis, Ilanit Shalev, James Stone, and Keith Wahl.

Evolution in Resolution: Digital Art and Photography
Opening Night Reception: March 14th

Refreshments provided by Finch's Wine Bar & Bistro
Guest Curator: Joe Nalven
Jewish artists have been working with digital media for several decades - in making their art and how it is presented. Whether their digital medium is painting, fractals, photography, whether photorealistic or abstract, whether collage or montage, or even mixed media, the work may seem to be as it once was, but there are surprising differences. These works often have a new take on what contemporary art is about. On the surface, things may not look so different…but they are.
